Venue: University of Wisconsin Madison Winter Commencement. Notable Elements: Best inspirational graduation speech. Firstly, at the commencing of her speech, she expressed gratefulness and thankfulness to the audience. Lisa has used a perfect combination of the rate and pause during delivering her speech. They also said that the nonverbal elements are made of 38 percent tone of voice and 55 percent body language. Examples of nonverbal communication cues are physical appearance, facial expression, posture, eye contact, movement, and gesture.
First of all, physical appearance describes the physical features of the speaker including dress and grooming. Lisa had worn a graduation gown with a hijab scarf that represents her as a Muslim speaker. The audience can easily understand that she is a Muslim girl because of her dress, so our appearance always represents a great message about ourselves. The proverb says that the first expression is the best information. Secondly, the speaker maintained a good posture cue during delivering her speech. In fact, she really didn't have much of a speech. She did not seem to follow any sort of guidelines for her speech.

I am speaking about Hate Speech. If I were to criticize my teacher and point on the errors in his methods of teaching and all his flaws and petition for him to get fired that teacher would be inclined to think that my critiques of him and speeches are of Hate.

I have watched many speakers while in the military. It was a mandatory training that we have called Sexual Assault Prevention Response. The speaker was a spokesperson from The Naval Criminal Investigative Service. It was a big crowd and there was a microphone that was set up.
I noticed that even though there was a microphone in place that he did not use it to his advantage. The theatre was packed and the speaker did not go on the stage. He stayed in one spot at the bottom left part of the theatre, where it was really hard for people in the back to see him. Margolick also urged the audience to take action and try to encourage a movement such as emailing president Barack Obama, to make Elizabeth and Hazel reconcile and become friends again. Afterwards, the audience got a chance to participate in a question and answer session with Margolick. Dornyei explains that human behaviour has two dimensions — direction and magnitude intensity. I tend to look down at my notecards a lot. I review my speech over and over again before I give it, and almost memorize it, but it is my worst fear to speak in front of people so that is why I look down at my cards so much. Also, I have my cards too close to my face. The second thing that caught my attention while watching myself was that I need to have more gestures with my hands. Having a little bit more mobility with my hands will put more emphasis on the things that I am trying to say to the audience.
The power point that I made was simple, but I feel like it got the points across and corresponded with my speech. I thought my tone throughout the speech was good. I feel like my tone of voice is very personable with the audience and not too soft or loud. Another thing that I thought I did well was pausing. I let my information sink in with the audience with a pause. I used some humor in my speech by giving funny pictures and saying some things in my speech that made the audience laugh. I gave some time to let the humor set in with a pause and then proceeded to go on with my speech, so I thought that I used humor in my speech pretty well. My speech needs to be more conversational.
When I watched myself speak, it seemed like I was reading it a little bit. With a more conversational way of speaking, you can attach yourself to the audience rather than reading your speech. Although, this way, he leveled himself with the audience, it was very obvious that he did not sound confident in some particular moments. However, the constant change in his persuading voice, lowering and raising it, made the speech more interesting. Though his introduction was way too long, he shared some good information and established a common ground with the audience. He made a self-deprecating humor, which could lower his credibility in front of the audience, but it was not a case in his speech. This way, he helped his listeners to be prepared to the last phase of the speech. I think, it was an amazing way to complete the speech. His knowledge of the subject and well-organized arguments made his speech very informative and persuasive, which makes it very interesting to listen to him.
The fact that I still remember his speech, though I watched it 6 years ago, says by itself, how well it deepened my understanding. Back then I made my first steps towards the entrepreneurship, and any information was useful.
